Conventional advice is clear. Niche down.
Get specific.
Focus.
But I have never known anyone find their focus by finding their "niche". I have known more than my fair share find frustration though.
The concepts behind niching are total nonsense really.
It asks you to exclude the parts of your that make you, you. The parts that make it possible for you to do what you do the way you do it.
What if you created your niche out of all the parts of you rather than leaving them out so you can fit into someone else's idea of a niche?
The innovators of our world have never, ever, been constrained by a niche. They have created it. They have always become a market of one by challenging the norms and accepted ideas.
Why should you be constrained? You need freedom not shackles.
If you are a macrame loving skydiver there is something in both of these things that is important to your business. It might be tangible or it might be the way you approach them that is the key but just because on the surface they don't connect to your field of work does not mean they are irrelevant. They actually hold the key to growth.
You find the focus by accepting all these parts of you and finding their expression within your business. This is what creates the energy that lights other people up.
Why on earth would you want to dim that light?
It's what makes you stand out to your audience. They couldn't give two hoots about your niche, it's who you are that will draw them in. Embrace the whole of you and feel the difference it makes to your confidence and energy.
